Santa Pod Sponsorship: LAS Motorhomes’ Spectacular Transformation Of Simon Gough’s Racing Team

Santa Pod Sponsorship, last year, LAS Motorhomes dipped their toes into the exhilarating world of Super Pro ET racing by sponsoring Simon Gough. Little did we know, this partnership would soon evolve into an eye-catching transformation that would turn heads at Santa Pod Raceway. What started as a modest logo on crew uniforms and a small decal on the car transporter has now blossomed into a full-fledged visual spectacle that showcases the power of creative collaboration and innovative design.

The Initial Idea:

As the new racing season approached, Simon Gough had a vision that would take our partnership to the next level. He wanted, in his words, to have “LAS Motorhomes plastered all over the truck.” While it’s easy to verbalise such an ambitious idea, bringing it to life presented a unique set of challenges that would require creativity, teamwork, and expert craftsmanship.

Overcoming Design Challenges:

The first hurdle we faced was how to seamlessly incorporate the LAS Motorhomes brand into the existing Camaro car theme without compromising Simon’s team identity. After weeks of brainstorming, we turned to our trusted web design partner, Trudie from ‘Wots the Big Idea’. Her ingenious suggestion to treat Team Camaro as a product was the breakthrough we needed. This concept allowed us to create a cohesive design that celebrated both brands.

With this fresh perspective, our design process gained momentum. We went through several iterations, fine-tuning every detail to ensure the perfect balance between LAS Motorhomes’ visibility and Team Camaro’s essence. When we finally presented the proof to Simon, his enthusiastic “YES” confirmed that we had hit the mark.

Preparing the Canvas:

Once the design was approved, the next step was to prepare the truck for its makeover. Initially, Simon suggested applying the new vinyl over the original design. However, to ensure the best possible result, we made the decision to strip off all the existing vinyl and address any imperfections on the truck’s surface.

This meticulous preparation process was far more time-consuming than anticipated, ultimately requiring 50 hours of dedicated work. We filled, sanded, and primed every rivet and dent, creating a smooth canvas that would showcase our design in the best possible light. This attention to detail, while labor-intensive, was crucial in achieving the professional finish we desired.

Bringing the Design to Life:

For the crucial task of printing and applying the vinyl, we partnered with J & K Auto Products of Blisworth, Northampton. Our long-standing relationship with John, the owner, gave us confidence that the execution would match the quality of the design. Their expertise in large-scale vinyl application was instrumental in bringing our vision to life.

The result was nothing short of spectacular. The truck’s transformation was complete, with the LAS Motorhomes brand prominently featured alongside Team Camaro’s iconic imagery. The design flowed seamlessly across the vehicle, creating a mobile billboard that would capture attention at Santa Pod and beyond.

Extending the Theme to the Race Car:

Simon’s enthusiasm for the new look extended to his race car as well. He requested that we incorporate LAS Motorhomes branding onto the vehicle itself. For this, we took a slightly different approach, opting for a more streamlined design that would complement the car’s sleek lines and high-speed purpose.

Once again, we enlisted Trudie’s expertise to create a design that was both impactful and aerodynamic. The result was a perfect balance of brand visibility and racing aesthetics, ensuring that LAS Motorhomes would be unmissable on the track.

The Final Reveal:

After weeks of planning, designing, and meticulous execution, the moment of truth arrived. The transformed truck and car were unveiled, showcasing a cohesive and striking visual identity that exceeded everyone’s expectations. The LAS Motorhomes branding was impossible to miss, yet it integrated seamlessly with Team Camaro’s existing aesthetic.

The new look made its debut at Santa Pod, where it quickly became a talking point among racing enthusiasts and fellow competitors. Parked near the scrutinising lane, Simon’s rig drew crowds of admirers, effectively increasing brand awareness for LAS Motorhomes while celebrating the excitement of Super Pro ET racing.

Lessons in Collaboration:

This project highlighted the importance of collaboration and leveraging specialised expertise. While at LAS Motorhomes we pride ourselves on our in-house capabilities, we recognised that this unique challenge required additional skills and equipment. By partnering with trusted experts like ‘Wots the Big Idea’ for design and J & K Auto Products for vinyl application, we were able to achieve a result that surpassed our initial expectations.

The success of this project has opened up new avenues for LAS Motorhomes in the world of motorsport sponsorship and brand promotion. It demonstrates our ability to think creatively, work collaboratively, and deliver impressive results even in unfamiliar territories.

Impact and Future Prospects:

The transformed Team Camaro rig has become a rolling testament to the power of effective sponsorship and creative branding. At every race event, it serves as a beacon for LAS Motorhomes, attracting potential customers and motorsport enthusiasts alike. The increased visibility has led to a surge in inquiries about our products and services, proving the marketing value of this innovative approach to sponsorship.

Moreover, this project has strengthened our partnership with Simon Gough and Team Camaro. The collaborative spirit and successful outcome have laid the groundwork for future endeavors, potentially expanding our involvement in the racing community.
